Research Project: The balance between adaptability and optimisation in building design
Investigating the balance between adaptability and optimisation in multi-storey steel building structures. Applying a whole lifecycle carbon thinking to assess whether upfront overdesign and adaptability could result in greater long-term carbon savings than the currently promoted optimised, lean design approach. Funded by EPSRC (Project Reference 2733613) and co-sponsored by Tata Steel UK and Mott MacDonald Group.
